REVIEW: LUSH & THE BODY SHOP

I've always had an itchy scalp and dandruff (Attractive! I know). I wear a dark uniform for work and getting little flakes on my shoulder is so embarrassing, I had to do something about it. I love the body shop but I had never tried the hair care products, so I decided to give the ginger shampoo a try.

The online description:
"This refreshing shampoo with ginger extract is perfect for dry scalps"
(such a detailed description....)

The description leaves much to be desired but don't let that hold you back, this shampoo is fantastic!. I have used it for about five months now and I find it is very "refreshing" on my scalp, stops my itching and the sent is lovely. The only down side is I still feel like I can still see some flakes in my hair. You can get the shampoo in two different sizes large for £6.50 and small for £4.50. There is no matching conditioner but The Body Shop sells a banana Conditioner (and shampoo) that smells delicious.

As much as I love this shampoo I really wanted some thing a little more "Natural". After seeing a video blog by farahdhukai about the "no poo" method I was instantly intrigued. The one she Recommends is J.R. Liggett shampoo bar the virgin coconut & Argan sentIts a bit to expensive for me so I did some research and seen lush make hair soap too. After talking to one of the in store consultants about my hair he recommend the "soak and float" bar.

The online description:
"A no-nonsense shampoo bar to help soothe scalps. Cade oil is derived from juniper and has long been used to treat scalps with psoriasis, dandruff and eczema. Rose and marigold petals calm the scalp and soothe redness, whilst lavender oil has been added for its antibacterial and balancing effects on the scalp."
(That is more like it!)

I really didn't really know what to expect from this bar but after my first use I fall in love with it!. I've been using it for almost two months now and so far I am impressed with the results. My hair is softer than ever and I find it stops my itchy scalp and keeps the flakes at bay. The sent isn't great but I don't mind it too much and it doesn't linger in the hair. Also it's only made from 9 ingredients!, that was a big positive for me. The bar only cost £5.75 and the helpful man in Lush told me you can get 40-60 washes out of it so its good value. They have a few more products for your hair such as the Big Solid Conditioner bar that I can't wait to get my hands on, they also do Henna hair dye.

Have you ever tried anything from The Body Shop or Lush hair ranges?

New year resolutions

Christmas and the new year come in such a flurry, I can't believe it's 2015 already. So whilst suffering from a NYE hangover, I have decided to get my life in order. So here's my New Year resolutions:
Pay overdraft off by September
After finishing university in 2013, this is long overdue. I have give myself till September to do this and I will be using moneysavingexspert for Tips and help. Being in debt is not the way to start the year and 100% not how I want to end it.
Go to Iceland.
I have been wanting to go to Iceland for ages now. So why not do it this year! I'm hoping to see the Northern Lights and also would like to see Bjork's house and some general sightseeing.
Start driving lessons.
Again this is long overdue. Since the age of 18 I've been saying I will do this but going to uni and having no money has always stood in the way. Lessons are so expensive. I am planing on using a local instructor (the same one my sister used) as I think it's important to use independent services.
Eat more fruit and veg.
I have been trying to eat more fruit and veg for the past two years but I could still do better. I recently found out I love avocados and blueberries.
Pinterest has some great recipes. Have a look at my boards for some inspiration of your own
Apply for creative jobs.
This has been an on going thing for the past year and a half now..
Some sites I have been using are:
Also printandpattern has been a good source.
Give blood
Because I want to (cue that horrific Billie Piper song!).
If you want to Give blood you can find out when the next session is near you.

What are your New Year resolutions? I love knowing what other people think up. Curb eating habits?  Give up smoking? Or spending more time with cats? Let me know!
