6 Step DIY Manicure

You will need
  • nail polish remover and cotton pads/buds
  • nail file / buffing block
  • Nail oil
  • Hand moisturizer
  • nail polish (base coat, color, and top coat)
1. Shape
File your nails to the desired shape. Remember always file your nails in one direction only, never go back and forth.

2. Oil
Apply oil to your cuticles and massage in. I have been using The Body Shop almond nail and cuticle oil pen, It has a handy little rubber tip to help push back cuticle skin.

3. Shine and clean
Buff your nails, once done dip a cotton bud in  polish remover and sweep it over your nail beds to remove any oil. This will help the basecoat stick.

4. Basecoat
Don't even think about missing this step. This will prevent the colour from the varnish staining your nails, one coat should do it.

5. Colour
Now choose your nail colour. brush on the nail polish from the center of each nail the move from base to tip. Apply 2 thin coats. I used The body shops new Colour Crush nails range shade 130 Red My Mind
(Don't worry about mistakes. just use a cotton bud dipped in remove to take away the mess.)

6. Don't touch a thing
Once your colour is dry add your top coat to lock the colour in and add shine. now sit back, relax and let your nails dry.

have you used the Body Shop Nail range yet?

  1. In my experience, it's better to use oil AFTER :), if you want a long lasting manicure, and who doesn't.
